Showcasing skills with HackerRank and CodeWars

less than 1 minute read

When learning to program online there’s a question that is frequently asked by students: “Where can I improve my code writing skills?” You see it’s quite easy to follow a lesson, write code along with the instructor and thus have a perfect, functioning, piece of code. It’s quite a different story being faced with a problem and having to come up with a solution from scratch.

Luckily I chose a path that already contained many practical problems and projects, so I didn’t lack experiences in writing code, but it’s always possible to do more. For this reason I signed up to HackerRank and CodeWars. Both are companies (CodeWars is made by Qualified) that specialize in developer recruitment, and they offer tools to assess skills for technical hires. So by partecipating in their coding challenges, a programmer can experience the types of questions that he might face while interviewing at Amazon, Visa, Bloomberg, Uber and many more. A programmer can also show at what level he’s currently at.

These are the results I have reached so far on these two platforms.
